Bandar Lampung – A tense atmosphere enveloped Jalan Putri Balau, Kedamaian District, Bandar Lampung, on Thursday (30/1). A shootout between a police officer and a group of motorcycle thieves took place around 1:30 PM.

The high-speed chase, triggered by a motorcycle theft, ended with one suspect being wounded by the police. Two other suspects managed to escape.

“The incident began when the perpetrators were caught by residents while trying to steal a motorcycle. The perpetrators then pulled out a gun and fired at the residents. Fortunately, our officer who was passing by immediately took decisive action,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police, Senior Commissioner (Komisaris Besar Polisi) Yuni Iswandari, in a press statement.

Bripka Agus’ Brave Action

The police officer involved in the shootout was identified as Bripka Agus. With his bravery, Bripka Agus managed to wound one suspect with a shot to the leg.

“We commend Bripka Agus’ actions. He acted quickly and decisively in the face of a dangerous situation,” praised Senior Commissioner Yuni.

Shocked Residents

The incident began when residents caught the motorcycle thieves in the act.

“I was parking there, and the owner of the motorcycle kicked the perpetrator’s motorcycle. The perpetrator wanted to take the motorcycle near the Indomaret,” said Yuli, one of the residents at the scene.

The perpetrators tried to fight back by firing shots at the residents. The police immediately returned fire, hitting one of the perpetrators.

The Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police, Senior Commissioner Yuni Iswandari, said the incident began when residents caught the perpetrators trying to steal a motorcycle. When cornered, one of the perpetrators pulled out a pistol and fired a warning shot into the air.

“That’s when Bripka Agus passed by the location. He immediately got out of his car with a long-barreled firearm,” explained Yuni.

Bripka Agus managed to wound one suspect who was caught after being shot in the leg.

“That’s right, one suspect was arrested. Members of the Subdit Jatanras took decisive and measured action against the perpetrator,” said Yuni.
